Former President Donald TRUMP escalated his campaign against Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, tying a potential lawsuit to his longstanding demand for immediate interest rate cuts. In a Truth Social post, Trump accused Powell of mismanaging a building refurbishment project, inflating costs from $50 million to $3 billion, and labeled him "Too Late" for delayed policy actions.
Trump's rhetoric also targeted his former Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, for Powell's 2017 nomination. The Fed has maintained steady rates in 2025 after multiple cuts in 2024, resisting political pressure. Powell testified in July that policy easing WOULD have occurred earlier absent Trump's interventions.
